This morning 20th September 2018, FIDA Uganda under the leadership of its chairperson Ms Lydia Namuli honored the invitation from the Chairperson of the select committee investigating sexual violence in institutions of learning, Hon Robinah Gumeere Rwakoojo to share insights on Sexual violence in institutions of learning.

Our presentation centred on the Causes and extent of the vice of sexual violence in institutions of learning in Uganda and its negative effects on the population, the available legal and policy framework, FIDA’s contribution towards addressing sexual violence and key recommendations to the committee.

FIDA made emphasis on the need to fast track the sexual offences Bill and the Witness Protection Bill among others to address challenges of reporting and associated systemic challenges faced by the justice system.

The chairperson in her remarks commended the work FIDA Has done across the country and she proudly associated herself as a senior member who actively served the institution. FIDA Has pledged to tender in evidence based reports to help the committee qualify the issues as raised in its presentation.
